. a curteous driver! i think i am now more than i used to be i.e. letting people out of drive ways if its heavy traffic, letting buses out of bus stops etc. do you think it comes with maturity maybe!

i gave up being curteous. Its a dogfight on the path i take to work and back. The people who push in at the end of a Long ques are just waiting for the weak to let them in .You can see the same cars do it every morning . As for the weekends , im a different driver .Much more laid back , even a bit curteous to certain cars. High value tosser cars dont get a look in sorry.

Yep, aggressively courteous :) Mostly on the open road, as my car is a bit slow.

I always pull to the left to let motorbikes past me safely, I often wave people to go in front of me and I always toot to truck drivers who pull left to allow me to pass etc. Its just treating others as I like to be treated. Common courtesy.

hmm interesting comments so far! I know its silly but I always think; if I let this person go then maybe when I'm in a rush one day or stuck in awful traffic someone will be kind to me and let me in haha

Hell no, get out of my way and wait your turn. I have the reputation of Commodore drivers to keep up (LOL). If you are genuine and need to yes, if you are queue jumping then no

Now that Im not driving for a living yes before that no but I do hate people that cant keep a constant speed on the open road you know the ones that roar passed you over the speed limit in the passing lanes and as soon as they are out of the passing lane slow down to 80 if Im behind you yes I am giving you the fingers

it is catching.
Letting someone go when they are stuck will hopefully encourage them to do the same thing to someone else. I tend to wave folk through when it is safe to do so.

I'm waiting for the guy I passed last night to reply. Was varying between 85-95 on easy roads, so when we got to the passing lane I indicated and went for the right lane. Pulled up along side him somewhere north of 140.once I was there he slowed again. Did the same thing to the next guy behind me at the next passing lane. They're out there.

90% of the time Yes (Buses, Trucks, Nanas, Learners, Bikies and Peak hours). 10% of the time is spent handing it back to Jerk offs.

I always indicate my intentions clearly, at the correct time.
I keep a very good lookout, especially for cyclists/motorcyclists/kids/pe- ts.
I'm quick away from the lights. Some of the light cycles here are only long enough to let two or three cars through, if the drivers are dicking around.
I don't dick around.
Courteous enough for you!

yes, I do all those things, and consider myself both aware and courteous. But on the flipside I am highly intolerant of f-wits indicating incorrectly, parking on yellows, parking in clearways.

I share the same. I consider myself courteous but have absolutely no time for people daydreaming or who are just plain incompetent. Speaking of that I must fix my horn, its broke. Must have worn it out lol.

Highly pissed off recently when some halfwit SUV driver attmepted to change lanes over the top of my MGB - and my airhorns shorted and wouldn't work.

My pet hate is those who scream up the left lane ( yes undertaking! ) and then expect everyone to make room in the centre lane as the flow of traffic approaches a line of cars merging from a on ramp!

I'm pretty courteous to those who follow the road rules.
I have been known to force courteous behaviour from those who don't.

Wellington bus drivers don't give you a chance to let them go first - they just pull out an force the issue.

To me being courteous also means how YOU behave to other drivers. For instance If I'm waiting to come out of a side street and an approaching car indicates that they are turning in, which enables me to get out earlier, I always give a wave. Same whenever somebodygives me a few extra metresetc either the hazards or a wave. Hopefully its catching and more will do it. Though I note the old days of somebody giveing a toot when a truckie has pulled over to let them pass, seems to have gone.
