Still going to puke spectators was not the only reason that supercars wont be at Hampton downs the place is not finished yet

floscey, Aug 29, 9:06am
i dont know what the guys at Hampton Downs have done , but the concills and government have pretty much made it a uphill battle from the start.

splinter67, Aug 29, 9:15am
Not sure but they have annoyed some one dosent matter where they race Holden will still win Hehehe

tazcsv, Aug 29, 10:21am
Hmmmm theres a great track being built down here in the south :)

splinter67, Aug 29, 10:26am
Yup there is and it will probably be finished before Hampton downs will be

esprit, Aug 29, 11:17am
Doubt it.

splinter67, Aug 29, 11:20am
so when will Hampton downs be finished its taken a hell of a long time so far

tazcsv, Aug 29, 12:02pm
Yeah id say it will be and it will be a better setup.

esprit, Aug 29, 12:08pm
Given that they've just secured financial funding to complete the corporate facilities and the international track extension (which was the only thing that was causing delays), I imagine the remainder of the work will go ahead rather quickly.

esprit, Aug 29, 12:11pm
Not pissing in Cromwell's bucket, but it's a million miles away from any population base. Sure it'll be a good plaything for rich people to hoon around in their ferraris, but Hampton Downs is within an hour's drive of about 1.7 million people. Highlands is an hour's drive from less than 50,000 people. Any motorsport event that goes there is unlikely to draw massive crowds consistently.

splinter67, Aug 29, 12:11pm
It needs a drag strip the whole of NZ needs more drag strips LOL

tazcsv, Aug 29, 12:13pm
Will have to wait and see but it would be funny if this track down here is good to go 1st.

splinter67, Aug 29, 12:15pm
Cool as dont get me wrong its a good place been 3 times now will defiantly go more often when I move up that way but its taken a long time to happen

mopsy3, Aug 29, 12:16pm
The council may grant consent for spectators actually at the park but it is the Land Transport Authority that say how many vehicles can come and go and block up the motorway that counts at the end of the day.

tazcsv, Aug 29, 12:16pm
Im suprised it hasnt got a drag strip as it has all other tracks covered. it may happen.

tazcsv, Aug 29, 12:20pm
That wont be a problem down here, it happens every year at the warbirds over wanaka, they block the roads off all weekend for that event.

splinter67, Aug 29, 12:33pm
Ummm ever heard of a little town called Bathurst that place seems to draw a few spectators

elect70, Aug 29, 12:47pm
HDwont playTony Chochranesgameno big$ handout, plusAuck council wont sypport HDits not in Auckland ,Got to remember this is a totally privatly funded trackno sudsidiesfrom anywhere, in fact it cost 2 M$ more infeesdefending against prison objecting ongrounds of noisemay upset prisoners & Roads Board reckoning it would cause massiveholdups on SH1 . If it wasnt for that track would have been full length &pit towerbuilt. Govtobfuscation.

twink19, Aug 29, 1:49pm
they have now approval for 50,000 spectators a day at HD

modie61, Aug 29, 4:37pm
Well said,we need more dragstrips,im getting tired of using SH 1.

splinter67, Aug 29, 4:59pm
Yet another reason to move to Aucks no good here they plant bloody grapes on drag strips
