Help - Knocking when braking and turning left

stevexc, Aug 26, 11:53am
My EB2 Fairmont V8 has a knock when braking and turning left.Coming from the left front wheel area.Does not happen if turning without braking and does not happen when braking in a straight line.It will happen even with slight pressure on the brakes.

Recently had the following done (6 weeks ago):
- Nolathane front upper arm camber kit with bushes etc
- Lower ball joints
- Watts link stuff but I think this is the rear

I have no idea if any of that stuff could cause the problem but I'll take it back to the place that did it anyway.I trust them to sort it out.

Just want expert opinions in advance :)

Also managed to get it to make the noise with the car/engine completely stopped just by wobbling the steering wheel a bit.

Oh well off to the mechanic

Very common for the steering rack on the subframe subframe to Creak/Click. Case of loosening off, and applying either a washer kit (which came out during warranty, ford dealers may still stock this) or there's a Loctite Silver Paste/Grease that you apply between the subframe and the rack.

Could also be sway bar bushes, engine/trans mount etc. I'd be checking the camber kit and ball joints were done correctly as well as they could cause it if it has only been happening since then.
