Bump! Please, we must have some Subby experts here!

hopie, Aug 23, 8:55am
wire a computer fan into your intake pipe, that should help give it some more pep in said rev range

sr2, Aug 23, 11:35am
Thaks for the advice, I don't know much about cars but I'll give it a try. Are you sure the fan will be OK with the Fuelstar device I've just had fitted!

johnf_456, Aug 23, 11:48am
I would check your basics fuel filter, spark plug condition, air filter, ignition system, has it had a pod filter fitted before! If so check the air flow meter it might have got some residue oil on it. I am not a huge Subaru guru but bumping for those who are.

When you say kangaroo petrol what was the story specifically and what was done.

Think about it johnno.

johnf_456, Aug 23, 11:54am
Just trying to get as much as information as possible

There goes the neighbourhood and my thread!

thejazzpianoma, Aug 23, 3:21pm
Wait. should have bought a VW. Now its properly ruined.

sr2, Aug 23, 3:22pm
LOL, if I had my way he'd be learning to drive in a Bambina with one plug lead off!

kazbanz, Aug 23, 3:52pm
SR2 -my memory of those 1600 subies is that they did have a big ol dead spot. nYou are right they really are the last word in gutless.

pc_evo, Aug 23, 4:37pm
Check ya plugs if it splutters, check ya fuel filter has been replaced (money's on it hasnt!) check the air filter (bet that's never been done either), other than that, they wont go no faster :) a mate used to have one, they called it the whale, cause they dont pick up :)

johnf_456, Aug 23, 5:41pm
look, to help we need a much information as possible. The crystal ball is broken again

cowlover, Aug 23, 5:46pm
Kangaroo petrol = name of a sea bird!

motorboy2011, Aug 23, 5:52pm
lol Im glad you can see the funny side too

sr2, Aug 23, 7:46pm
Correct, and what agressive little Procellariiformes (big word) they can be at times.

kazbanz, Aug 23, 11:54pm
SR2 -I was questioning your logic buying possibly the most uneconomical and gutless car on the road. Then I realised just how cunning that plan really was.
Not only cant they get into a lot of trouble driving the car. They can't afford to drive it much anyways. --very clever

sr2, Aug 24, 6:22am
Cheers Kaz, youth and exuberance has never been a match for old age and treachery!

flat_white_ltd, Aug 24, 6:36am
Procellariiformes !lol. wtf.

saxman99, Aug 24, 6:46am
I bought an MGF a while ago from a 15 year old kid whose father had bought it for him thinking it was cool. However, for a 15 year old it was probably the most seriously uncool car ever made, and also it couldn't fit all his mates in for the drags on sat night. So, the car was sold and his father bought him a new car to replace it, this time with input from the son.

He bought his 15 year old L plates son a late-model seriously worked turbo Subaru WRX.I told the father that IMO he was out of his mind.

Good on ya SR2, good choice I reckon.

"Procellariiformes is an order of seabirds that comprises four families: the albatrosses, petrels and shearwaters, storm petrels, and diving petrels. Formerly called Tubinares and still called tubenoses in English, they are often referred to collectively as the petrels, a term that has been applied to all Procellariiformes[2] or more commonly all the families except the albatrosses."

Cheers for the vote of confidence saxman, It??

petal_91, Aug 24, 9:07am
Those N/A AWD subarus are really slow. I was stuck behind one the other day as he was trying to overtake a truck. He kept pulling out and then chickening out and pulling back in again, not confident that his vehicle could do the overtaking maneuver in the available gap. With a WRX at least the time exposed to danger whilst overtaking isn't too bad, so you'd be keeping your son safer if you got him a turbo.

flat_white_ltd, Aug 24, 9:24am
Amen to that. Our young fella is currently doing up an 850 Mini with me for his 1st car
.he decided he'd go with old school cool, instead of fast.
.( for now, I approve )
.but, the fact you are even thinking so much about this tells that your boy's prolly already got good parenting skills on his side, anyway.- which makes a big differnce out there when you're not around, & the pressure's on from his mates.

sr2, Aug 24, 3:50pm
LOL, I'm sure he'd agree with you! I??
