So the guys from across the fence in Nelson have a world speed record in their Mini.142mph on one run and 151mph on the second one for a 146mph record.
They also managed 156mph at the mile 3 marker and are going to try and break their own record tomorrow morning. Not a bad effort for a 1000cc 1964 Mini Cooper running on pump gas.
Not sure I would like being the one hanging onto the steering wheel.

Nelson Hartley was driving it. A local Palmy boy who's oldman is an ace when it comes to getting heads to work. Nelson looks like a 'Glam Rocker' most of the time with his wild long locks of blonde and is also a big balls Sprintercar jockey. Brother of Brendon H who does a bit of work on the fringes of F1. Going insanely quick is in their blood.

IIRC there was a twincam head available, in the UK, for the BMC A series back in the 70s as was a Jack Knight 5speed gear box.
