I am thinking about one of these and was wondering if anyone has got or had one. Just really wanted to know if they are reliable and comfortable. Took a 2004 out for a test drive and it seemed ok. Your thoughts. thanks

Probably OK as long as you don't have any crashes in it other than collisions with supermarket trolleys, Toyotas, Nissans, are the price they are for a reason

kdcentralni, Aug 16, 4:38pm
My friend has one and he tows his race car with it loves it, check parts availability with the local dealer first.

intrade, Aug 16, 8:13pm
Go and ask them for parts like windscreen wiper mechanics and other parts you probably get told there is no parts.

redfeather, Aug 16, 8:38pm
Oh well thats not good at all if parts are hard to get. Thanks all for your imput.

Ssangyong are THE BEST of the Korean car makers.
Their reliablity, build quality, and practicality are easily superior to dog-eaters Hyundai (utter CR@P) and Kia.

I know of one guy who has now had three, and he swears by them.

eagles9999, Aug 17, 7:00am
Seem to recall an adv that said price was $23000. Thats cheap!

poppajn, Aug 17, 7:28am
Firm I work for had 4, waited overnight for brake shoes, 3 month,s for a clutch and the accelorater has,nt turned up yet, 18 month,s later. We got one made. Part,s supply not good, neither is performance. Very sluggish.

redfeather, Aug 17, 5:36pm
I phoned around some places today and was told that the parts are easy to get now, that was from a place in Taupo and one in auckland. so thats good news for the people that own them. I'm still not sure.lol

intrade, Aug 17, 7:34pm
i would make it more specific try a windscreen whiper mechanism , and a door lock and door handle , these are parts you will need in a hurry if they brake .

motorboy2011, Aug 17, 7:35pm
I suggest you do the same for a multipla.

mantagsi, Aug 17, 7:36pm
Eh, no stress, Jazz has all the spares you need in the shed :)

supernova2, Aug 17, 10:47pm
Carefull he might hurt their feelings if he keeps swearing whilst close to them. Are you sure he isn't swearing at them!

studio1, Aug 18, 9:54am
I'd be wary about buying anything that you can't easily pronounce the name.
How DO you pronounce it anyway! Do you have to hiss at the beginning!

xs1100, Aug 18, 9:56am
i would check on parts avalibility for the earlier ones, they did go broke years ago and parts became non exsistent but they have been revived and dont know if they do parts for the early ones

321mat, Aug 18, 3:06pm
LOL!I know, I know. when they first came out (with the Mercedes engines), parts could be a problem.BUT, in terms of (overall) reliability compared to other Korean makes, Ssangyong is light years ahead.

redfeather, Aug 18, 7:57pm
Since the parts seem to be bit of a worry any thoughts on the mitsi outlander! They seem to be about the same price.

kecal, Aug 19, 6:30am
my wifes got an outlander 2009 xls ,lease car done about 110,000k
regular serviceetc , she travels abit , she likes it .
plenty of room . only had new tyresand as said the scheduled services.
oopsfuse went on lighter socket last week . but nothing major at all.
nice on trips.

msigg, Aug 19, 7:09am
The outlander is good, they were one of the biggest selling suv a few years ago. They look great too.

redfeather, Sep 11, 7:17pm
Well i still haven't purchased a suv yet. One dealer told us that the 2005 upward sangyongs were the best. Tried the nissans and didn't like the big dash!rather like the bmw suv's but the price is unreal. Also tried a kia but the one we tried seem to have alot of rattles. Soback to the drawing board.

kingfisher21, Sep 11, 7:45pm
WHY! Just why!

lazzo, Sep 11, 8:05pm
I can highly recommend Mitsubishi Outlander, a beautiful motor vehicle, fantastic engineering, practicality and economy and all for a good price. They sold tonnes of these and there's a reason for it.

redfeather, Sep 12, 4:57pm
Ihave sat in an outlander but i never took it for a test drive as the seats seemed a bit hard compared to the other suv's i have taken out, but they makebe very comfortable as i just has a quick sit. I like the shape of them, they look good going along the road. May have to test drive this weekend. Thanks all, really appreciate your imput.

thejazzpianoma, Sep 12, 6:58pm
Multipla is actually surprisingly easy. They are mechanically much the same as many Fiats of the time. New and secondhand parts are easily available (including body panels) in NZ.Plus of course pretty much anything at all can be had cheap from online within a week too.

I should know, I used them for commercial vehicles and couldn't have my installer off the road for even a day.

craig04, Sep 12, 7:27pm
You'd feel like an arse clown driving that.
