That's a pretty spectacularly simplistic and ignorant POV WRT to the empire state of the People's Liberation Army. "Shortcuts" kill many thousands of their own citizens each year in coal mines, chemical plants, construction industry, etc etc.The "official" figure is something like 80,000 workplace deaths a year, but you can bet that doesn't include things like deaths from long-term workplace exposure to chemicals / materials like asbestos, nor for non workplace deaths from pollution. Melamine in baby formula and nitrosamine in soy sauce hit the news, but it's merely the tip of an iceberg.
I'm not sure if we (in the west) have the moral right to wash our hands of all responsibility for the crap that goes on in China, despite how repugnant it can be seen to be from a distance.
