What sort of oil should i put into my 2002 350Z!
It has done 58000km, mainly highway commuting.
The manual recommends 5W-30 SJ, but i was going to use 5W-30 SN full synthetic. when i went to buy the oil, the repco man insisted i should use 10w-40 semi synthetic, which one is correct please!
thank you.

The manual.

Nissan developed the engine and wrote the manual. The repco guy probably puts 10w-40 in his lawnmower so recommends it to everyone.

SN is just a newer and better specification of oil than SJ. SJ was perhaps the most modern at the time the car was made. Use the 5w30, doesn't necessarily have to be fully synthetic but if you give it a thrashing then it wouldn't hurt. You could extend your service intervals with synthetic oils as it doesn't break down like mineral oil does.

By the book, they made the car, they know best!

Ryco Filter, not Repco.

Cool thanks for that. Yeah it's a sports car so don't expect a ride in a luxury car really, and I'm young and can live with the bumps as with my other cars!

Think I would use Motul definitely or Valvoline maybe ahead of the Castrol.
