help!i have a vfr400 with power everywhere but the plugs. any ideas!

Ok first odvious thing to check is the ignition fuze. Second thing to check is that the battery is in good condition. -If the battery is low It might have enough to run lights or the starter motor but not enough to power up the coils and starter at the same time Next is faulty coils

cheers faulty coils sound expensive.its got power going into coils but nothing at plugs.

how are you checking for spark and when you say plugs is it no spark at the end of the lead or the spark plug is not sparking

What are you using to test the power at the end of the plug leads! Your finger should be ample.

my kids finger is better. these bikes are really bad for killing voltage reg/rec, have done 2. would have thought if power to coils, but no spark, maybe whatever the cdi uses as crank/cam position, or the cdi itself

Had the same prob on mine found it to be the voltage regulater happened to me halfway between chch and kiakoura

To be honest in this case I'd be connecting up a car battery and seeing if the bike starts easilly. I have found with those small honda's that they do tend to foul plugs then just don't wanna go as the battery cranks down. I must say in my experience with v4 hondas (mostly 700/750/800) that when the reg goes the battery gets overcharged rather than not charged at all
