Has anybody on here had to decide between a Senator or a R8 Clubsport!
Both VY series 2, condition the same, kms the same.

have you driven both! these are completely different cars, sure they are both Holdens but . both handle and performe different.
For the money id have a Senator just for the luxury if you want a harsher ride and performance go for the R8.

Hi brokebloke. No I haven't driven both. I've always liked the look of Senators, but the Clubsports are a little cheaper and easier to come by where I am.
I've looked on a HSV website and can't find alot of difference. They have same power etc.
Would you say a Senator is a step up, or just a step sideways!

I think you'll find both have exactly the same suspension package, Just that the Senator has a bit more weight & the foam used in the seats is actually not a firm as what is used in the R8.
Put it this way, when I worked for a wrecker & we wrecked them out the suspension was the same on the ID tag.
They are basically exactly the same car with the Senator having a bit more luxurious interior.
Same brakes, same suspension, same diff ratio, same power/torque, same everything when compared side by side.
The difference is the R8 was aimed at the sports orientated market & the Senator at the luxury market.

Hi guider. Yeah that's basically what I've found out. But thanks. I kind of just like the rear spoiler on the Senator, over the one on the R8. But both are pretty cool cars.
The Senator would maybe be an older guys car right!
I think I'll just go the R8, they're still pretty comfy

The Senator's are harder to find but hold their value a tad better because of that fact.
Either car will keep you happy i'd say.
