I assume this is on today - weather looks ok, but I'm a bit of a distance away. Anyone confirm its all on (and that the carpark isn't underwater)! Thanks.

Haha, I'm in Albany too. Yes, great day, almost felt like rain at one point, but stayed clear. Blown HQ losing the back wheel was impressive (I had a look, and it seemed that it might have sheared the studs off!). I was dissappointed that the twin blown HQ Ute (BIGTRQ!) lost it's blower belt. That wasn't a lucky lane for a couple of others either.

Yeah it was a great day even got a spin in the chopper with me 9yo daughter.

why did the twin blown HQ ute get a re-run against the black XA sedan !. He red lighted and lost then got a re-run and won. then next round he backed out of the staging area and his opponent got the win.The xa should have gone thru. i was very impressed with the white camaro, looked like a nice clean streeter but rattled off an 8.7 second pass, and made it look effortless.

I wondered about the re-run too.I liked the black XA sedan - is that the same one that used to be blue that hit the armco a few years back! HQ Ute backed out of the staging area as he had dropped the blower belt. Favourite car of the day was probably that big black Fairlane which was running respectable times for a big stock looking car (11's I think). Certainly some nice old cars down there, made me wish I still owned something interesting.

That Black XA got my mate in the blown Camaro and also got me. He had a dial in of 11.00 and ran an 11.04 against me, I lost that one haha, but I managed to get to the 3rd round, first time I've raced at a proper meet. Had a blast !

Not the best vid, or my best race. also first time driving my car with a helmet on. strange feeling not hearing all the creaks and rattles. I guess that's the serious guy have so many gauges.

Hey 74, where you the white Nova with the flower pots!
quickstitch,
Sep 3, 1:41pm
yeah the black xa was blue and had an altercation with the armco a few years back. respectable times for a heavy XA with cast iron 4v heads, normally aspriated. I had a chat to the owner driver, Mike, and have enlisted him to build my cleveland. It should be putting out about the same power as his with alloy heads, and my car is a lighter xe falcon.

thinking about it, wasnt the blue xa from welliington ! and on NOS. the black XA is from Westie land.

quickstitch - I don't know where the blue one was from, just remembered it hitting the Armco a while back, then didn't see it again for a couple of years, and hadn't noticed the black one before, so wondered if it was the same one (or same running gear at least).Either way, the black one sounded good - I've got a soft spot for XA's after having owned a couple.
