I think thats common with cars when they were first registered. Sometimes a car thats made late one year gets first registered the beginning of the next year! Hence a car made 1955 is registered as a 56. Could be wrong. Just the way I always thought it was.

Date is 'year of first registration' not year of manufacture.

Or sometimes vice versa, one of my car is a 97 but registered has a 96.
