How to start a gn250?

disco_super_fly, Sep 3, 12:04pm
I recently bought a gn250 and went to take it out last night for the first time. I'm only learning, so just wanted to practise shifting from N to 1, stop starting etc. Anywaaaaays, I couldn't get it to start. I've ridden semi-autos before but this is slightly different. I put the stand up, made sure the bike was in N, had my foot on the break, and turned the key, and Nothing. I'm guessing i'm missing a vital step somewhere along the way! I feel a bit silly asking this, but I guess everyone's got to start somewhere. Cheers

Do all the lights on the speedo cluster come on! Pretty sure the old mans one has a start button as well.

You havent got the kill switch on ( button on the handle bar)

disco_super_fly, Sep 3, 12:07pm
Yeah it must have a switch. I'll go try have another play now. And yup lights and everything come on, so the battery is working.

I'm in Three Kings.
Haha no you don't sound like an old nana. I would love someone to help me out but I don't know anyone who rides a bike. I have a bit of time on my hands, so I plan on teaching myself a few basics then just practising and practising and practising. But hey, if you're keen to give me a few lessons and make a little bit of cash i'd love some help! Was planning on getting a lesson or two anyway, then doing one of those safety courses.

Reminds me of a friend who pushed his new bike a few kms because he did not know it had a reserve fuel supply and tap.
