Someone we know sold a vehicle on here.Had on the advert that it had a current COF but had been sitting in a yard since. Was clearly stated in the ad that it would be sold 'as is where is', although as far as the seller was concerned it was running fine due to it passing the COF and not been used since. The buyer chose to buy it sight unseen as he didn't want to miss out on the sale with another potential buyer due to inspect the vehicle the next day.So now upon mechanical inspection (at the same place the last COF inspection was done) there have been numerous things found wrong (cracked head I think, some slight rust, and petty things such as mildew on the roof). The buyer is now trying to take this to court and wants all the repairs to be paid for by the seller.Just wondering what other peoples views were on the subject! The seller is such an honest person, and is more hurt at the fact that he's being called a liar and dishonest.

Yep, go to court, the seller will have nothing to lose.

hunnybunny-- this has been covered off many times before. My honest advice after many years doing this car selling bit. if the vehicle has only been for a PPI so otherwise has been nowhere it will save a lot of time and effort to just cancel the sale

Thanks guys, I'll have a read back through the old thread. The repairs have already been done, the guy just went ahead and done it and now expects to be repaid for it.I'm not sure if he has a lawyer yet, it's a tribunal thing or something!Sorry I don't have all the details.

if the auction stated as is where as that's its. By bidding on the auction and winning he has agreed to the terms on that auction. Also if you are wanting to get someone else to pay for repairs you cant just go ahead and do them. You have to ask the other party first. END OF STORY.
