I used Dissolvit, but it took a lot of time and about a dozen applications of it and a plastic scraper thing. Was 3M automotive double sided - man that stuff sticks big time.

Get or borrow a caramel wheel -Paint supply shops sell them They are about 75mm and mount in your electric drill like a grinding stone. they are a light brown color and smell almost like well caramel The material is "kind of" like rubber/erasor but it takes all malnnner of sticky tapes off of paint without damaging the paint underneath. Sorry cjohn but I DONT reccomend your method. Sure as eggs somewhere the paint ends up with a scratch

Simple solution just get some tee tree oil use it for removing the sticky crud off jars works a treat.
Just NEVER use one on single packpaint though LOL.

Yeah, possibly. But I was taking it off glass - so no damage. But paint would be different undoubtedly.

WD40. It has a thousand uses and that could be one of them.

Been cleaning a lot of those super sticky glues they use on computer labels that totally resist most solvents including acetone & abrasives like jiff/ meths/ turps/ crc etc etc. Have now gone over to using plain old simple PETROL. Works well on most glues, but yea can bite a little on some plastics but only 1 or 2 plastics so far & even then I have had plenty of warning.

I used to use Prepsol to remove the residue from sign writing vinyl. That may work.
