of worms! long story short, have a great wee audi, economical, reliable, sporty, i love it, when we bought it noticed that a couple of things didn't work, the door lock button and wing mirrors all opered on driver door, so took it to the local auto electrican we use (have used in the past for other vehicles) and what a mess someone has been in there and messsed about, so after a $500 + bill all was going, or so i thought but now airbag light is on and odometer reading has disappeared! so its back there and they don't know what the prob is! (that never happened before) why did I bother it doesnt affect the driving! grr at myself! god knows what it's gonna cost now!

That's it exactly! I don't know why people try to do these things themselves.

Hearda story the other day where a Merc had electrical issues and the owner didn't want to pay the Merc dealership $100 an hour estimate 4 hours to fix, took it to the audi/other euro dealership because they were $80.00 an hour and after 3 days the fault and about 9 new ones are still not fixed and the merc dealership will not help now, truck it to another merc dealer far away.

LOL, had to help someone fix the same problem on a Toyota Highlander a while back. they had turned down Toyota's mechanisim at over $400 and ordered a "motor only" from them. So lets hope the Corolla has a different unit.

BTW, for their $50 for a "Motor only" they got a $4 model shop engine which didn't even have a gear on the end of the shaft (had to pull the old one off and glue it on) which we were then expected to put into a sealed housing which had to be cut open with a dremel and patched back with epoxy.

I will take the VW/Audi any day thanks.
