Super Works 1800w generator.

Fixing one for a mate, just pulled the head off to find so much crap/carbon in it the piston couldn't get to TDC. 4 stroke, single cylinder, petrol. I need to know what to set the rocker gear to, as they seemed way too loose to begin with. Also, it looks like the exhaust valve opens slightly when the inlet is open, then the ex closes, and opens properly later in the cycle. like there is a double lobe on the cam! I've searched the interweb for details, about all I've found is the plug gap.
The motor is a 'Wahoo WG160', 5.5hp.

not an unknown principle re valves open etc, allows momentum to better scavenge the cylinder, how hard is it to check the tappets when the engine is hot ( set them at say 12 thou, run it until well hot and recheck to ensure you have at least 8 thou clearance when hot - these are not official figures but will suffice to run the engine), re the coke - chuck the air cleaner out, fit a new one, and tell them it is a 4 stroke, it doesn't require oil mix in petrol

you may also have exhaust issues present or soon to manifest - if the head is that coked up imagine how much is in the can

buy a honda:)

You can see the rocker cover, no hope of doing anything to it while running as there is too much stuff in the way.

Get a job.

Didn't buy it! Trying to fix it for a friend, cause some other idiot didn't know what he was doing. Exactly why I don't lend my stuff out.

Ask Supercheap. They see em they should have the specs somewhere.Yeah I know not likely but surely thats part of the "backup' a retailer is required to provide to their customers.

!
almost impossible to adjust or even check while running - far too much oil splashing around even if you could get to them without cooking your hands

set them cold to 12 thou each, cover them up, run the engine till it is well hot, stop engine, check again, adjust if you have to so you have approx 8 thou when hot

I'm pretty sure it's only if the products the retailer sells are categorised as dangerous goods, that they must keep specs readily available.

A lot of it is OSH Bureaucratic nonsense, as in I bet all Petrol Stations, have to have material data sheets for their fuel available. LOL.

You'll probably end up chasing your tail on that unit. I've seen experienced small engine mechanics give up on these china pieces of junk. they're just not made to be fixed. Use them then lose them when they die.

From your first post i wonder if the cam wasn't hardened enough and has now worn its own lobe pattern.Still think you should ask supercheap to find the engine specs.they import em they sell em they should provide backup as required by Consumer Guarantee laws etc.Who knows you might be able to back them so far into the corner they supply a new engine.
