Any body got any opinions on this brand! I like the look of their tool trays that fit neatly into boxes and roller cabs, but not sure of the quality. The price seems comparible to powerbuilt etc, maybe even a bit more expensive if you buy the trays as opposed to a complete set. I'm just really wondering if there is any difference between different taiwanesemade brands.

Powerbuilt feels very cheap, if you can get Teng for the same price go for it!

I think I might be suffering from tool box ocd, as it's the trays that draws me to them. I bought a couple of King Tony socket sets and really like the feel of them, and they are nice looking tools too but they don't come in trays that fit my box!

Teng make a fine set of screwdrivers. They are superior to the Powerbuilt options (in my limited experience)

Bought mine years ago when paykel engineering (trade shop) was the outlet for them. Excellent quality when I can find where I last left the size socket I'm looking for. They are respected brandname in UK. Some of the cheap stuffs alright now anyway if your not abusing the gear and using proper technique.

Teng tools make absolutely outstanding ring spanners IMHO. I have put them to some seriously punishing tests and absolutely no worries. My set is about 6 years old, used professionally and privately, and when I clean them at the end of the work day they still look like brand new.

The Repco branded tools are nice looking, but they aint cheap! As for the Teng tools, you guys have convinced me. I shall start filling my box with them !

powerbuilt, repco, have a lifetime warranty, not sure on the rest!.im still lookin for a good brand,im lookin towards powerbuilt at the moment as its made in the U.S.A, teng tools, king tony etc, they are made in taiwan,!,not the most popular brand if you what i mean.

powerbuilt is made in taiwan too lombax, along with teng, king tony, toptul, sidchrome and just about everything else these days. apart from the rather expensive snap on

Is there even much of a range of Genuine repco stuff left! I have two steel handled Repco sets and I like them very much. But it seems every time I go into Repco there is more Mechpoo rubbish everywhere and less Repco stuff.

Isn't the Repco branded stuff made by Alltrade/Powerbuilt!
Powerbuilt used to be relatively good back when I bought my set, but seeing the set the apprentices get these days the Powerbuilt stuff is crap. I won't even replace my stuff that does break under warranty cause I know the new tool they'll replace it with will be no good.
I have a couple of Teng tools, never liked the feel of them. They've always felt cheap. In saying that, only thing that's broken on them was a nut/pin on my large pair of slipjaws, which just required a new pin and a nut loctited back on.

A lot of Snap On stuff is made in China now.
From my experience being in the trade, the cheaper stuff is fine for every day tools. Specialist stuff that you really don't want to break or need to be 100% accurate I only buy Snap On/Bluepoint or Koken, as they are the only two brands I've found that I simply can not break, even if I go out of my way!
Getting to know Tool Rep's also helps a lot with keeping prices down.

I guess the good thing with the powerbuilt warranty is that they will replace broken pieces. I have had no trouble returning the couple of broken sockets and a bent breaker bar, which to be honest only bent because I had a bar on the end of it.

I must be getting old, never a word about Stahwille which inhabits my toolbox, it must be crap, good job there's room for it in the recycle bin.

Anyone still use Britool! I have a couple of old Britool pieces in the toolbox, still trucking along :) Those who know Stahlwille do swear by it though, it is nice stuff

Just for a laugh have a look at the Blackwoods site and the prices for Sidchrome Ring spanners.Only looked as some ahole pinched one of mine which made my 40 year old wall cabnet incomplete.Although I've used them for 40 years I still hate the feel of Sidchrome spanners.
Send them to me I will recycle them for ya straight into my toolbox LOL

I still have some old Britool spaners and a few Stahlwille ring spanners. I am pretty sure they are older than me and I'malso sure I'll never be able to break them. I just find them to be a little bit . ugly. It would seem I have my priorities a bit mixed up.

You've got to be joking mate. Powerbuilt is crap and is for DIY it AINT made in the U.S.A I can tell you that right now.

I'm interested to know why you say powerbuilt is crap! I'm sure it is when compared to koken or snap on, but is the quality any worse than any other taiwanese tools !
