Factory speakers

Hi guys. Does anyone know how to get the speaker covers off the parcel tray speakers in a 1995 A32 Cefiro sedan! I have tried to pry them off but no go. Also when I am replacing the speakers can I plug the existing 'plugs' into brand new speakers! Thanks

Just a guess the covers are part of the tray.If so out with the seat etc etc.Plugs might fit new speakers but probably not.

And if the plugs don't fit what can I do! Do you chop off the plugs and attach new ones! Are there adapters for speaker plugs etc!

If you intend to sell car at a later date and want to put orig speakers back in keep the plugs, so cut them back abit. And most speakers have blade type conectors ( a small and wide one.so you just put them on your bare wires and plug onto your new ones. And get ya posatives and negatives sorted as
well.If you have to butcher the parcel tray you may well have to just leave the new ones in it if ya sell.or not.

Hi thanks- no I do not intend to reinstall the factory speakers, the reason I am replacing them is that they rattle at even a moderate volume, not to mention the sound quality is well you know 90s quality.

You might be able to remove the plastic covers from the plugs and simply "plug" each seperate wire to the correct terminals on speakers.Otherwise solder or new crimpon plugs required.

What are the American Hi-Fi Head units and speakers like! They seem to be some of the cheapest systems. I know they won't be as good as JVC, Panasonic etc but I'm not paying that much for an audio system. Keen on thoughts

Geez, ya can get a very good JVC or Pioneer for $100 new these days. And a set of 6x9s for $60. And your worried about the factory sound! For a couple of hundred it will sound quite good. How much do not want to spend!

Like anyone- as little as possible. I didn't realise they were that cheap, I would preferably put in a double din (as that what is in currently) but these are at a price premium. I will definitely look around for some JVC/Panasonic head units then.

Brought a head unit of that hi. Brand and it lasted about 2 min lol brought a Sony. And had it for a year now but it was a 600$ job so yeah you get what you pay. For

Just what I didn't want to hear lol.

Repco and supercheap have them on sale all the time, just check a mailer.
And double din are about $300 from memory but you dont really need one as you can get filler trays as well.

monaro17, Sep 24, 5:33pm
You are quite right

I had a $100 sony in my cefiro when i had t, nothin wrong with it and wife has $100 JVC in her van, been there 2 years no worries. I don't like JVC and thats just cause there a bit complicated lol, nothin worse than having to refer to instruction to do something. The sony was easy and you didnt need instructions to store radio stations change clock etc it just made sence when ya seen it. But JVC is fine.

I just chucked a set of American HiFi speakers into the rear of our Primera as the factory ones had fallen apart.$49 and sound fine on the factory head unit.Had to alter the plugs. Now I need to do the fronts as the new rears make the fronts sound shocking.

Its only our town car so didnt need any fancy sounds but think i would go for a better brand if you want a bit of omph.I'll get shot down but I tend to think you are better to replace the lot with the same brand and use the manufactures recommendations rather than mix and match unless you really know what you are doing.

That looks pretty good for what you want, and as you are in CHCH you dont have issues if there is a warrnty problem. I would ask for a proper quote if you got them to install as they may jack up the price to make abit more on the loss they "may" make on the stero combo. Not saying this is the case at all tho but worth thinking about. And make sure the warrenty is still good if you install yourself.

monaro17, Sep 24, 5:48pm
That's what I was worried about- I will need to put new ones in the front doors too, more$$ haha.

monaro17, Sep 24, 5:49pm
That's the catch- I believe the warranty is void if not installed by a registered installer.

gunhand, Sep 24, 5:54pm
I used to work at repco ( yes shocking a) and some systems were covered regaurdless of who installed it and what balls up they made. You could certainly claim but not all were accepted but alot were even when it was clear the installer had no idea. You should see what happens when 6 know all teenagers get together with a car, headunit, speakers, amps, subs and a mile of cable. Not much good comes out of it lol.

Seems ok for the money.Just check are your rear speakers 6x9 at the moment!Cos if so these wont fit.
