I bought a used car from a dealer 5 weeks ago. I had to wait for delivery because the dealer said the car had a running fault that was diagnosed as ht leads and would get them changed before i had the car. 5 weeks after delivery now and the fault has got worse, misfire is way worse thanbefore and when it misfires the temp gauge drops. I told the dealer about this ( and another fault 2 weeks ago ) and he has not called me back as he said he would. I will try again tomorrow, but I'd be interested in your thoughts - Full refund or should I be content with having the car repaired! The car is a 2003 VW Golf.
thanks

The dealer has the right to repair in a timely manner under the CGA. Return the vehicle to them.

Is that why VW hovers around the top 3 car makers!

probably another vw that was never serviced . you change leads and plugs , and there probably is a faultcode stored as to what plug had a missfire stored on the obd 2 system. Nothing wrong with Vw as long as they are serviced correctly. just say its a automatic on top of it. because thats the next thing that would not have seen a service

More than likely coil packs on the golf. Give us a yell we can diagnose and fix for you pretty easy, for the sake of a hundy or so the dealer should just do it, but we can always bill the dealer if they agree.

Let them diagnose it first and then depending on what it needs as to your next course of action. If it is going to be major and a lemon you would want them to contribute or repair under their cost, or possibly look at getting a refund or different vehicle.
I'd be guessing coil packs as well, although Im curious as to why the Temp gauge moves at the same time.
Could also be EGR or a code stored in the system. Have had an EGR fail before on one, and replaced it and still same symptoms. Turns out had to go to a VW Dealer to have the code cleared and the EGR system Re-learned/calibrated before it would go back to normal.
