Volt is coming but

will they be discounted as much as in the U.S, GM are losing $30,000 on every volt sold http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120922/AUTO0103/209220373/1148/auto01/GM-offers-big-discounts-boost-Volt-sales

Haha yeah you're right; the Volt is coming but. [watch this space].

Lecky cars is a difficult one. Time will tell I guess.

Article in the paper had they will be called Holden and $85000.Genesis energy will work with them for initial sales to allow owners to charge at 15 amps. After that it will be more expense for the owner to fit new equipment to allow 15amp charging.Otherwise they will be limited to 10 amps or even as low as 6amp.

what was it like to drive did it feel like an $85,000 car

intrade, Sep 23, 7:17am
good read the link most your questions will be answered there.
the 85 g price tag is another issue also on the thread it should be 65g nz max , somone wants to get rich like loads of things in this country like food . newzealand has the worlds most expensive food prices compaired to income.

does look perfect for town commuting but price is the issue as they have found out in the U.S the point is i hope for the consumers sake they get the price right so those who buy a $60-80,000 car dont find it on sale a few months later for half that

ye well opelsignum is almost 50 grand also in europe. I can see one place where its no good for farm and gravel it be absolut best for auckland commutingproblem for nz is the need of the rhd version. the volt-usa be lhd otherwise we could import one our selfs. the ampera costs 52 grand swiss franks signum 49 grand swiss franks .
and i dont mean it cant drive on gravel it drives fine on snow in europe it be the dust getting in to the electric that cause problems .

Would it even charge overnight on only 15 amps. Or does overnight to these guys mean get home at 6pm and leave the house at 8am!

I'd like to know how they intend limiting the power supply for charging these vehicles in people's homes. If I have a circuit in my garage which is rated to 20 or 32 amps (limited by the cabling and breaker etc) then who are they to tell me I can't use it for charging whatever I want!

This is just rubbish, based on front-loading all the development costs onto the vehicles sold so far. Here is the real story: http://www.forbes.com/sites/boblutz/2012/09/10/the-real-story-on-gms-volt-costs/

A charge is only 8-10kWh, it charges in about 3-4 hours.

exactly and gives 60kmh distance more when you regenerate alot down hills and on braking there is 2 chargers the normal plug in the boot to plug in to any mains single phase and a power station at home for fast charging also single phase for the 4h charge. I would hook it up to the hot water cilinder for extra cheap power but psssst dont tell lol
