Can someone

tomahawk01, Sep 19, 5:36pm
insure a car that is not owned by them!As in insurance policy in their name ,yet ownership of car is not theirs!

monaro17, Sep 19, 5:38pm
IMO No. I'd imagine that the person in question would have to be an associate member not the policy holder

intrade, Sep 19, 5:39pm
there is no ownership if you talk registration that is the user of the car whom is registered to send bills to for speeding or other matters.

tomahawk01, Sep 19, 5:40pm
wouldnt the car owner need to sign policy papers!

tomahawk01, Sep 19, 5:41pm
yip car is registared in owners name, unsure how someone else can have an insurance policy on it then!

vtecintegra, Sep 19, 5:48pm
No one needs to sign anything - you can do the entire process over the phone or online.

tomahawk01, Sep 19, 5:58pm
presumably if your the owner!

vtecintegra, Sep 19, 5:59pm
My policy does not make that distinction anywhere, it refers to 'the insured car'

Anyway who is to say its a standardised thing, best to call you company and ask

Pretty common & simple.
Over the years & even recently, we have had several cars under our insurance policy but ARE owned & driven by other ppl.
Some cars & owners don't even live in our city.
Each policy is customized so that the insured driver is responsible as if THEY had taken the policy out themselves.
WE simply pay the bill.
We even have a house policy under the main account for another town but the bill is not paid by the policy holder, but is paid for by the house owner from their own bank acc, (& we all get the combo discounts)

mrfxit, Sep 19, 6:50pm

tomahawk01, Sep 19, 6:54pm
so does each owner then get policy papers, otherwise how would they know how to make aclaim!

vtecintegra, Sep 19, 7:06pm
Call the 0800 number for whichever company and they'll help you

tomahawk01, Sep 19, 7:15pm
lol, i know how stupid that sounds.thing is someone else has insured my car without me wanting them too.I do not want to have to go thru this person to make any future claim. Can the car be insured with more than one company.i highly doubt it and how do i get it cancelled!
