Hey guys the question is asked so many times I thought it would be a good idea to post up a link to the ACTUAL legislation regarding buying and selling cars.
http://www.justice.govt.nz/tribunals/motor-vehicle-disputes-tribunal
Its also a link to the site to sort it out

Sorry Tigra but that is not a link to the actual laws.
The site i gave then has all three consumer acts listed.
Ie the actual laws
The link you have is CA's interpretation of the law not the actual law.

when subjectivity is enshrined into law, there is always going to be problems.
I sold a 15 year old car recently for under 5K with a near perfect pre purchase check done the day the customer bought it ,and apparently i has a small oil leak that was not picked up by the inspection.
With regards to the CGA I probably dont have to fix it, but in order to keep my customer happy, will do it for him.

toby thats all great but theres a few people here and on other forums making statements of "law' that arent.its happened so often I thought it was about time a link to the ACTUAL laws was here. The link I quoted gives you everything. The laws, consumer advice etc

Cheers Kaz, unfortunately the peeps who misquote the CGA etc are unlikely to wade through all of that legalese that why I like Consumer Affairs interpretation.
