My 2nd one, first was a FZR 1000, bout 92. it killed me phyiscaly after 100kms of riding so that lasted only a few months.

didnt you get a zx14!

gunhand, Sep 16, 7:06pm
Probabaly was, new gen ZX10s, GSXRs, R1s etc are a tad cramped for me. Not my idea of fun after an hour.

gunhand, Sep 16, 7:09pm
After the Busa yes. But being made reduntant put an end to that at only 5000kms. Shit happens. But I didnt loose a hell of alot o its value so that was a good point I guess. I would have another for sure.

sabbath-black, Sep 16, 7:11pm
was it the updated model! Was it better than the busa!

gunhand, Sep 16, 7:19pm
Na got her new in 07 just before the update. The newer ones had a better bottom end but to be honest I think the lack of it was good, You could ride at 50kph and it didnt want to "go" unlike the busa which was ok but wasnt happy till about 100 (take ya pick of mph or kph lol). The 14 was smooth as glass and all round brillient bike. The Busa whilst a very very good all rounder and felt more planted than the 14 was a tractor smoothness wise but still comfortable and easy to ride. Dont know about the next gen of Busa though.
Both very good bikes all the same.

Oh and what was better, hmmmmm the 14 but it should be for 7 years newer, but not by much.

Got a duke 1098 a couple of months ago after 9 months of no bike, thinking of riding the south island on it around the start of oct, west coast into central otago, arthurs and lewis pass. Only prob is unless i rape it my body is in pain after the first 200km - i can now relate to you old buggers who want comfort over anything else lol.

jmma, Sep 17, 8:07am
Why would you want to rape your bike, no wonder your body gets sore (o:

splinter67, Sep 17, 8:08am
Sounds like you are getting old LOL

skin1235, Sep 17, 8:12am
cannot find comfort on any of the forward leaning position bikes, and maybe it's my bone structure but jeez the padding in the modern seats leave a lot to be desired, one hour and I'm a cripple or have a bad case of the bumble bee ass from the vibrations
give me an old upright, cbf4 or 6 type, or like the early brits where you actually sat on the bike not leaned onto it, where you actually felt the wind pushing on you rather than need to be going 100 so you can rest on the wind to ease your back, hips, and arms
although full faring may have sissyfied the ride it is certainly essential today at my age if I want to be able to move my knees and ankles at the end of the ride - maybe a goldwing with the full heater kit one day - or just stay in the cage

kazbanz, Sep 17, 8:19am
hey GH you have picked one of my bucket list bikes.Im told its pretty easy to liberate an extra 10hp from one of those and get the suspenders working exceptionally well without too much drama. I like the riding position and the engine

berg, Sep 17, 12:51pm
More and more of us going to upright sport bikes. Love my Z750 as its easy on the neck, back and wrists but been oggling the new Z1000sx. Same upright position but bit more power.

mantagsi, Sep 17, 2:45pm
I know what you mean, I had an oddball FZR400 with some interesting fast bits from factory, absolutely cleaned up on the road but after a few k's needed a crane and a physio to get off it, but what fun. Oh I should mention that was back in my early twenties too, so it says something about FZRs
