Clio's are reasonably reliable, but they are very flimsy and very poorly built. Parts are stupidly expensive in New Zealand however. For some reason the NZ importer thinks Renault is a premium brand, when in reality it is anything but, so they charge stupid money for all the parts.
I had a Clio Sport with the 2.0 litre motor, had it for three years, it was a really fun car, and reliable for me, only issue I had was a split radiator top. So had it recored as we couldn't find a replacement in Aus or NZ.

To me, that's a rather high price tag for an oldish car. If buying a Clio, get a manual one.or the one with a mid mount V6.

Find something else, sw20's comment is bang on, these things are absolute pricks to get parts for in NZ, if you need bits to get a WOF like tie rod joints for example, expect to have to wait to ship them in.One assumes that they are probably easy and cheap to source stuff for in the UK like most other Euro product such as Opels for instance, but that would be it.Renault certainly have a strange attitude towards their customers here, charging what they do for vehicle bits for something thats the Froggy equivalent of a Toyota Starlet, even one of the little Peugeots like a 106 or 206 would be a better option than one of those.

We've had lots of Renaults over time and i agree with all the above.Parts are unobtainium in this country. If you want to have a late model Renault you need to have another car as well as it will break down and you will wait for the next space shuttle for parts to arrive.Run Reggie Run!(Renault owners will understand that)

the only problem is parts for renault they want more then 6 times for a part then what it will cost in europe so you need to be awear and wait for cheaper parts a while 12 to 14 day ex germany for example or pay humangous ripoff prices and still wait 12 days . from renault agent-ripoff artists

problems on renault used to be electrical nature poor wiring braking wires degrading wiring on early mid 90s models. The latest model dacia sandero is basicaly a renault clio platform with no frills and they seem ok as we got one in europe and i done 9000km with it with no problems ultra economical 1.2 eco engine does 60mpg on 91 and 68mpg on 98octane. that is the 2010 model 1.2 renault engine
