Anyone have experience with Makita LXT impact guns

Since my little 12V Hitachi's battery's have finally got to the point of being useless I am looking at buying a new Makita 18V LXT Impact wrench as a bare tool because I already have the drill, circular saw, light and saber saw kit from this range, now I am wondering which to get out of the BTW251 and BTW450! It would be hands down for the 450 as its 440nm over the 251's 230nm but the thing that makes me wonder is it does not have variable speed but the 251 does and I have seen a few others using the 251 for the same jobs as I do.

So does anyone have experience with either and what do you think!

I could buy 2 new battery's for my Hitachi for under $150 but its still only 12V and has done a few years of work, also the new 18V kits for other brands are around the $600 mark so that's way out of my price range.

Get the BTW450, it's an amazing tool. Enough grunt to undo truck wheel nuts that the monkeys at the tyre shops have rattled as tight as their air guns will go (to the point of stretching studs). Also undoes rotary flywheel nuts (330nm) without breaking a sweat and will do any crankshaft pulley bolt that I've put it up against. Word of warning - be aware of the power to tighten nuts if holding the trigger for too long (can break bolts also).
The 251 is good, but lacks the superior power of the 450.

Thanks for your input man, yeah the power for the price is really good and its good to hear it will do a Rotary flywheel nut as I do them once in while and normally have to borrow a 1" gun that runs from 240v and yeah that is about the only reason I have considered a 251 as being that powerful with no variable speed can be a bit of a pain sometimes especially with wheel nuts on race cars which is what I will use it for quite a bit. How long have you had yours for!

Also anyone else have any experience!
