A discussion about a mirror.

My wife keeps nagging me to put a mirror in the back seat so that she can check on the baby every now & then. So, she wants to look through the rear view mirror, into another mirror and at the rearward facing baby.

I think this is a terrible idea for quite a few reasons - distraction mostly.

Do you agree with my point! Or have your wives got mirrors set up lol!

Tell her to sit in the back. You'll appreciate the reduction in noise

Missus bought one. What a waste of time. Was in the car for a couple of weeks now hangs on my sons bed haha. Its not so much of a distraction a quick check. its more of a problem when it slips out of view etc. Wouldnt bother.

:) No, I mean she wants to use it when she is driving. Otherwise I wouldn't have so much of an issue other than the flying object problem.

Just tell her to use the mirror in the eyeliner box/tray (while doing the lippy & holding the steering with her knees, they are good at multitasking)

Be aware, if you don't put it in she will always be turning round anyway. Drives me mad how my wife did that. Kid would cry and she'd drive while looking backwards.! Always told her better a crying kid than one going through the trauma of a smash.

Anyway, we put one of those things in, worked to a point but forever having to adjust it, and it's only till the sprog gets old enough to sit forwards.

Install a loud car audio system.

One that's louder than a crying infant. (if that's possible lol)

Considering all the other distractions for women drivers - like steering wheels, indicators and handbrakes how bad could one more be!

my wife says,Oh hun,i'm a woman,i can multi task, I just give her one of those side looks, and call her a muppet,.haha

We tried one, but because it was a hatch the closing of the hatch kept making the suction cup fail. I never really found it any good - what you see is so tiny you can't really see what's going on.

However you're probably better to try it, and for her to realise for herself it's no good.

Foolowing this girl in a BMW the other day all over road. I thought she was drunk until I saw her sunvisor down and her doing makeup. Dunno why they put a mirror on the drivers side

you know you'll just have to get one

johnn, Sep 12, 3:17pm
Yeah, might take a week but you will get one.

Install a reversing camera in the back facing the 'baby'.
