08 Triton. Any probs

On the hunt for a 4wd, and come across one of these. Any problems with them, apart from inlet manifold clogging up,[and the look off them] Seem to be well appointed for less $ than some off the others. IS THERE A REASON!

Inlet manifold blocking up is only on the 3.2L 4M51 engine. I work for a Mitsubishi agent and havnt come across any major faults. There was a recall on a certain model for the front top ball joint bolts. So see if that applies to this one and if it's been remedied. Make sure the fuel filter has been replaced every 40k I think! And that an SQL was performed every service. (small quantity of injection learning)

Guess it's a GDI--if so stay away--NZ fuel octane is not high enough.
Cleaned heaps of manifolds off GDIengines a few years ago--had to soak them in carbon remover tank for days. Then waterblast
Not Triton, must admit --but have seen plenty of Mitsi's with same prob.

It's got the 3.2 diesel. Had an experience with GDI in a Chariot, so that's why I'm being cautious. Dealer did alright out of me on that thing.

Intrade will be along soon to give you a full, unbiased opinion of Mitsubishi.

GDI = gasoline direct injection. Being 3.2L common rail diesel it's not GDI. The inlet manifolds are usually cleaned every 100,000kms ish depending on the type of use it gets. Because its the exhaust gas recirculating that blocks it up. Don't listen to anything rubbishing the GDI. Because this vehicle will not have it. We have seen these new tritons with over 180,000kms. And these are all newer than 2006 - onward. Most through the fleet lease companies.

Also, the 3.2 comes in 2 different power levels. Depending on the spec level of the truck. So take note of the model and power. I think Ood hand the high spec ones have a badge on the front quarter panel and the tailgate with the torque. Something like 430nm I think!

Edit to say that the 2008 4m41 has 380nm. And the higher spec ones are post 2010. Which are 450nm

and it is not GDI

Read some forum in aussie, and some were really bagging them, but just seemed to be the same problem.inlet manifold. Other people loved them. No one on here has said don't touch them, so they can't be to bad

Like I said. Depend on when it was last done. As it only needs doing every 100,000kms. We normally quote around 4.5 - 5 hours to to it. That's stripped cleaned and back together.
