Who said they were losing interest! And there may be less cars than "the old days" but these days there are a lot more cars that have a chance of winning and finishing on the lead lap. Back in the day they could win a race by 5 laps now that is boring.

Ho hum, the badge worshippers and branding victims will carry the day because they are the ones most likely be influenced by advertising and that's the name of the game in the end. It's kind of like the McDonalds or American Idol of motor racing. Lowest common denominator and all that.

I think you are forgetting that the safety car interventions and allowing people to unlap themselves always warps the results these days.
Far better to have yellow flags and a speed limiter enforcement through the danger zone only and just race the remainder of the lap. We have the technology.

Next year once the AMG E63`s get amongst them it won`t matter which brand of taxi you choose to follow or drive. Hopefully it will mean that a few more people will discover why those of us who drive Euros would never consider owning anything else .

why would it do that its going to be body panels on a chassis that started life as a ford with a merc motor thats mapped to run like its holden and ford competitors

And those dealerships that charge you $160 per hour to work on your precious euros laugh every time they see you coming.
