any good whats the good points and whats the bad points

thejazzpianoma, Oct 4, 12:19pm
You would want to narrow down the model/series/year to get any sort of sensible answer to that one. Probably stating what you intend to use it for would be good to.

sports modeland eveyday driver v8 4.6

pico42, Oct 4, 12:28pm
Thanks for narrowing it down.

gman35, Oct 4, 12:42pm
Think you will get a few replies to say "it will be an "everyday at the repair garage" or "everyday at the fuel pump if petrol V8 ".

socram, Oct 4, 12:59pm
Year!Price bracket!

bwg11, Oct 4, 1:33pm
Driven a V8 Disco 3 recently. Superb drive, excellent handler for a SUV and bags of poke. Reliabilty and fuel consumption may be another issue.

edangus, Oct 4, 2:53pm
Good Points - If you are buying a Supercharged V8 - its awesome.
Bad Points - if buying the same, you will look like a try hard unless you can pull off the "mike the cool person" look

desmodave, Oct 4, 3:00pm
Unless your very insecure does it realy matter what you drive. Who gives a dam what Joe Blog thinks of your wheels.

aleestar, Oct 4, 3:09pm
just want to no if they are a piece of S##T or not!

mugenb20b, Oct 4, 3:13pm
Depends on the price you pay. I'd rather pay $5k for a '97 Land Rover than $20k for a '97 Toyota Prado.

Land Rover is OK, but can give the occasional electrical problem. Good value for money, and an awesome off road vehicle.

edangus, Oct 4, 3:45pm
Not I. but a lot of wives do.

edangus, Oct 4, 3:47pm
No, they are pretty good value for money, and the V8s are a joy to drive.
Parts can be very expensive at times. $3,500.00 for a headlight on a 2008 ex UK

mantagsi, Oct 4, 3:54pm
:O what the hell!

edangus, Oct 4, 4:30pm
Yep, 2 years ago, passenger side (Vogue).what the hell! wasn't quite what came out my mouth.

96jeep4life, Oct 4, 5:24pm
Theres a lot of good and a loooooot of bad, they will swallow your wallet, but theyr so worth it, just be prepared to have some disposable income

a.woodrow, Oct 4, 5:42pm
Lol have replaced 2 "intelligent headlights" on a late model beemer cost $4500 each, Customer wasn't happy, think he paid for one and car yard the other in the end.

mm12345, Oct 4, 5:45pm
Jeesh - compared to the witless owner, they probably were.

a.woodrow, Oct 4, 5:47pm
Forgot to mention that the price was plus fitting and plus programming!

franc123, Oct 4, 6:08pm
Good advice, as a weekend toy they're a good buy, why people pay through the nose for these 15yo Prado's with a couple of hundred k behind them is anyones guess, they aren't very clever vehicles reallyBut $3.5k for an electronic headlight for a late model Disco, what a pisstake, especially on an offroader, I'm presuming that was the agents price! You can probably get them for $650NZ landed off ebay UK. Or even better fabricate a metal frame that will hold a $30 rectangular sealed beam in its place. Or wait, you could get a Jeep Cherokee with a more sensible and cheap headlight fitted ex factory.

That is criminal, at least armed robbers have the decency to hold a gun on you as they rob you.

nichen, Oct 4, 6:16pm
They are the most reliable in the world .That's why the USA put a Rover on Mars!

mortluby, Oct 6, 9:08am
Funnily enough, bought a Cherokee (94) for $2750 and use it as a fishing hack (look after it though). Didn't see the point in spending an extra $10k and getting a run down toymota and paying Toyota Tax for the privilege.
