Is that bottom terminal melted into the casing! Looks like an explosion waiting to happen.
mugenb20b,

OK.seriously.WTF! The time taken to create that mess would've taken longer than simply replacing the terminals. FFS.some people.

Wonder how many cold starts it would have made before catching fire.
zephyrheaven,

They are holding the battery in / tied & chaffing thru metal parts in engine bay - and holding the + & - wiring apart
It was a work of 'art'
I vote we keep WOF's at least 12 monthly - I dont want this looney's battery causing a fire when we both cross paths in the Lyttleton Tunnel for instance.

Nah, just hanging in the breeze

His 18 year old mate that knows everything about Hondas did it!

Interesting to see the program on the Mont Blanc Tunnel fire on Sky the other night isn't it, then you see something like this! Make's one cringe really! Then concider the fact that Lyttleton Tunnel is in close proximity as you say Zeph. I'll bet you had a ball with that'y mate, what sort of car was that lot found in! Absolute nutters if you ask me.
"This will self destruct in 5 seconds." .comes to mind(Mission Impossible TV program of years ago.) Perhaps it would be a good thing if it did. miles away from anywhere and with no innocent folk within range. Hey Zeph that's not #8 wire ingenuity mate, it's plastic coated wire and hose clip stupidity .

Darwin award for the neanderthal that created that pitiful excuse for workmanship.

Looks ok to me

I think its overengineered, surely a bit of masking tape would have held the terminals together.

Where in the VIRM does it say that's a fail!
ema1,
Oct 3, 1:37pm
Indeed and where also in this thread does it say "fail" for that matter! In interest of safety it damn well should be! Good on Zeph for stating " It didn't leave the workshop like that." Hope you charged em plenty and wrote an advisory note and warning on why it was fixed.! I agree wholeheartedly with the personal description of LOONEY 100%

us oldies will remember a song by Barry McQuire (I think) "We're on the edge of destruction". Maybe the car owners theme song .
zephyrheaven,
Oct 3, 3:26pm
It doesn't - battery security is gone from the VIRM (dumb - yes)

well today i had a explorer with broken u bolts . look closer and hello they were made from straight rod and heaps of hacksaw cuts to make the bend around the diff.
ROFLOL. I would far rather have safety assessed by someone who can apply a common logic approach than have it interpreted by some clown who would most likely allow shite like that to pass whilst failing the same vehicle on some trivial issue that had little if any relevance to safety.

Good idea - done

That takes some serious thought and skill to make something as excellent as that
