This is not difficult to figure out. MNZ as primary stakeholder in NZV8 have unfortunately created an environment that is not condusive to entertaining racing and appears to be more about politics than it is about the good of the sport. Seriously, last season comprised 8 NZV8s at most of the meetings and in truth only three or four at best seriously represented a winning chance. When compared to V8ST the NZV8 is a dinosaur, hell they couldn't even manage to wrap a VE or FG shell around the things and instead continued to operate NZs premiere series running models that the manufacturers ceased making 5 or 6 years ago at best. Lets be serious, Mr Ford or Mr Holden sure as hell are not going to pour huge amounts of sponsorship into advertising something that they "used to make".
I wonder what grounds NZV8 has to sue! That someone created a better formula and actually implemented it rather than just talked about it! One also has to wonder whether the arrival of the "new NZV8" might have taken much longer had it not been for NZST getting on the track as quickly as they did.

The frustrating aspect of this spat and the decline of Tier 1, is that if any casual observer tunes into TV3 and thinks that if this is Tier 1, supposedly the cream, then presumably other metings are going to be less attractive, when we all know that even a good clubby meeting has larger grids and often, far better racing, not to mention a wider variety of cars and classes. If Muscle Cars for example, was the headline act, instead ofan occasional support class, then specators would be piling in to enjoy the spectacle.
It is getting embarrasing trying to convince the non-believers that not all motorsport is that bad.I'd rather there was no current NZ circuit motorsport on TV than the abysmal fields of recent times.
I'd rather watch pre-1990's reruns.

Screw tier one, for me a tier one meeting would be: Super minis, pre-65's, whateveroscaiscalledthesedays,- Foruma 5000, super tourers, and some kinda 2l (or whatever) production car race.

the top brass at MSNZ should pull their heads in, they are sueing and using our money, all sour grapes. If they were really concerned for the competitors they would do what they could to make it work. Instead they are waving the big stick its our way or the highway. The motorsport co that ran tier 1 has gone broke. its in liquidation

Motorsport NZ is not suing anyone. You're getting the NZV8 shareholders group confused with MSNZ.MSNZ has already specifically stated that they've nout to do with the legal action (media statement a while ago)

At last a sensible post.

Yes the only way to make the meeting interesting is to have support racing where everyone understands.Pre 65s,muscle cars,G1 saloons and a few others thrown in the mix.
