I'd like to freshen up my old transporter trailer and would welcome a suggestion for a (brush) paint that will suit. The galvanising is generally OK and undamaged. Prefer something with a durable gloss finish and remember the trailer lives outside for the whole of the summer and just part of the winter.

you basically cant paint over galvanising easy. having said that my trailer is fully galvanised made from galvanised pipes , the galvanising was heavy worn and rust started to show so i cleaned it all with a pot-wire brush and painted wattyl rustkill paint on it lasted ok but its now mostly in the shed while not in use. paint lasted sortof ok like this no peeling off so fari have spraypainted the paint on more sufficient then with brushing top and bottom with decking timber and wiring remooved. i used dark blue

There is a primer that will stick to it but it's a spray product, DP40 from PPG and it might brush OK but I've never tried that.

did mine with wattyl paint they have a galv primer then a black gloss epoxy paint came up really well

Pot enamel paint! Or self priming roof paint ,ive just doneaxels in both our boats and done couple of coats septone under body rust proofing ( black tar stuff and then can cold galv lol mak it look galv again

calcium plumbate.not a good idea. Lead based and has been off the market for 20+ years. Any oil based galvanised primer, oil based undercoat and oil based full gloss enamel. put on with brush (4-6mm roller sleeve for larger areas.Peter

just done my trailer over that i got off TM. used rust converter all over the rust then 2 coats wattyl rust kill gloss finish. came up primo.I did use a wire wheel 1st tho.

wire brush the scale then PA10 the whole thing then spray with cold galv.
