Is it wise to bypass a fan relay! I have a s70 Volvo that the radiator fan has stop working and was told the it was the fan relay.I just need to know is it wise to bypass and how do I do it.I just need to get my car back from PalmerstonNorth to Wellington

I wouldn't. However if you just need to get the car back, you will probably be fine by just keeping an eye on the temperature gauge. Shouldn't be needed if just cruising along. Alternatively, just wire direct to a power supply like battery, and leave it running for the entire trip.

above 50 k dont need a fan .Lastcar i hadi used a manual switch for fan & only got usedwhenin traffic jams,ortraffic light que .

Id just watch the temp gauge, but if you really want the fan on all the time, no wiring changes needed. Pull the faulty relay out, look at the plug you pulled it out from and it will have 4 wires going to it, 2 should be thicker than the other 2. The 2 thick wires are the power feed to the fan, get a paperclip or similar and push it into the relay holder so it joins the 2 thicker wires, this will turn your fan on.

its probably more like a faulty sensoryou can turn on aircon to get the fans to spin on most cars with aircon fitted this would help cooling down so it dont overheats but i would fix it correctly soonest

If its just a normal relay (being volvo may have odd pinout layout) a new ones worth about $10.Why not just replace it!
