just_over_it,

yeah i wouldnt even think about taking it to mazda. but can you buy parts and ask a mechanic to install!
and what makes me even more pissed off is that they stole money out of my car!
and next will be my power steering pump!

i hope you at least have irridium ngk plugs for that price! they do cost 120$ for a 4 pot and they last 75000km i just changed some on a nissan where i had fitted these on a client car he broke down so i went and removed the plugs and told him acording to your odometer you done well over 100,000km with these plugs so i guess its them now dead. Fitted normal plugs as he had not got 120 smackers for irridium ones and woala it ran again. Told him these wont last as long do .

so how mutch was the quote for the leads!

Oct 19, 4:50pm
yep i got the irridium ones! i was working on the going in there once and doing everything that was needed but the stupid mechanic informed me that the shutter was only small so should be fine (AFTER he did the plugs)! i disagree and know that it is only running on 5 cylinders!

he said at least $600, couldnt even give me a concrete amount
would like to find a mechanic that i can amount off, as after just paying the guy $425 for the plugs, air filter, oil and oil filter, i dont trust him

well find a better place then . I usually explain why things cost more and recommend people start saving for new cars when there one is starting to look like its going to cost soon loads to fix.

yeah i would of had the money to get it fixed also, but there was a relationship break up and the ex took all the money! ive been saving since but the $425 wiped it all out! (only a current break up)

if it runs on 5 cilinder then you want to diagnose it correct as them v6 all crack the rear heads so it could be more serious and a waste of money to add more things when its got low compression on 1 pot.

While I agree it would not be a wise idea in the legal respect of things.

Oct 19, 5:04pm
oh god, dont tell me that! im freaking as it is!
just_over_it,
Oct 19, 5:06pm
how do you find out if its cracked or just the leads!
intrade,
Oct 19, 5:10pm
mechanic compression test on all cilinder and if it seems to be inconsistent compression maybe a tk test where a fluid is added to water to detect exhaust gas in the water. I would just swap some leads from a knowen good running car also the leads can be mesured but mesuring is not always showing a faulty lead.

go to partsmaster and ask for trade price on leads for your car you give em your numberplate and they can look it up this way you know what the leads cost. http://www.partmaster.co.nz/
just_over_it,
Oct 19, 5:15pm
and im assumming that the each of those tests are charged thru the roof!!
intrade,
Oct 19, 5:19pm
well not if you went to a good mechanic . swapping leads over from another car to figure if it is could cost you 50$ including gst from a fair mechanic and leads will probably be charged what partsmaster ask for retail, will say so on quote you get from them , another thing you can do your self is this

wait till it is dark open the bonnet and look round the engine if you see any sparks anywhere where you can see the wires and if you can hear a zapping noise that would mean the lead is stuffed where it arks . you should see the sparks when its fully dark no headlights on and torch off dont get caught in parts of the engine moveing and dont poke your finges anywhere just look from all angles if you see any flashing sparks. engine going of course i think that is clear to you!
