Help selling a 1971 corona

makeupmummy, Oct 14, 5:05pm
Hi there, was wondering if anyone knew where I could go in the bay of plenty area or a link to somewhere I could look at/or go to for value of a car! Selling our Toyota Corona 1971 rt84, but cant find any listed or anywhere to compare too, not too sure on what I should reserve it at. We have a figure i mind but just want to get the best for it we can. We dont want to sell but as we are moving overseas it has to be done :(
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Something that old! You are either going to get nothing or a very tidy sum.
Just run an auction and go for it. Market will dictate. Keep reserve at your lowest figure.

thats what I thought, guess it just depends whos wanting one and what they want to pay. Still cant bring myself to list it lol going to miss it I think,

RT 84 were a tough little unit I took out 2 chain of 7 wire fence one night in one and drove away dropped in a used radiaqtor and drove for 11 months till the rego ran out no way could it pass a pink slip.

unfortunately the 80 series isn't really desirable at all unlike the earlier 40 series. If it's tidy I would say $2-3k max.

Have you rang them!

cowlover, Oct 14, 10:01pm
See that famous one didnt sell yet again at urners!

chebry, Oct 15, 6:02am
In reality the 40s were horrible little bombs rust prone and very underpowered unless you got the twincam engine they have nothing going for them at all the stationwagon and ute a fairly collectable but are still worth nothing 2-3k for a 80 series you jest $500 tops.

phillip.weston, Oct 15, 9:01am
what 30+ year old Toyota isn't rust prone! 40/50 series have way more old charm and character than an 80 series ever will. If it's a two door 80 series then it will be worth more.

Any old RWD Toyota in good condition capable of getting a WOF is worth at least $1500-2000.

To the OP, best to put up pics and more details of it, otherwise until then you are just going to get more wild speculations of its value. Has to be worth more than $500 but not as much as $5000.

You missed my point they were rust buckets from new and 2door models were the poverty pack and cheapest.

makeupmummy, Oct 15, 1:43pm

hopie, Oct 15, 1:44pm
thats pretty tidy. just $1 reserve it, you may be suprised.

or shatterd

makeupmummy, Oct 15, 1:46pm
lol thats what I'm afraid of. I'm willing to take the risk but the man not so much. I might talk him into it haha will see what happens

chebry, Oct 15, 1:50pm
Same model I had but I had wide 13s on it 1600 motor 4 speed had air conthat was like running into a wall when switched on, thats a tidy looking car worth what you can get as mentioned above some people mostly those too young to remember them as new cars think these old Toymotas are worth gold hopefully you find one.

makeupmummy, Oct 15, 1:53pm
It still has original interior though its seen better days, didnt want to change it incase someone wanted to keep it that way, I prefer the old cars the way they were but some people want to change them, oh well might have to just put it up with the reserve I want and if it doesnt sell risk the $1 reserve, going to miss this car when (or if) she sells lol Thanks everyone

Find a normal set of wheels and put them on, look better IMO.
Sell wheels on their own (o:

mottly, Oct 15, 2:13pm
