If its been doing it a while you may have caused some carbon buildup which may now be causing it to run on and pink.

I agree with phillip above regarding switching to higher octane fuel too, I would go straight up to BP Ultimate 98 and see what happens.

I took it back and he wound back the timing from 10 to 8 degress. No pinking now.
Runs great most of the time but occasionally splutters. I don't know how else to describe. I would say backfires but don't hear a bang. It doesn't seem to relate to how I'm driving. Just drove it over a winding hill. Accelerated quite hard including from standstill. Had it at 40kph in fourth and accelerated out of that up hill without fault. Then coasting down hill it did. Then again when I was back in town accerating up hill away from an intersection.

So I don't know. It's got me beat.

bit.
There should be a little plastic bizzo fitted to the vacuum line between the distributor and the carburettor.K
The black side [marked as B]of that bizzo should be facing the carburettor.
Check that please.

Hi snoopy haven't run into you for a while. Probably because I havn't been on the forums much.

I suppose it could be blocked / need replacing. What's it called!

Never found the problem but it evaporated. It runs fine all the time now.
