I just got a quote to replace the rear shocks on my CRV after failing WoF. Does $700 sound about right! Or is thatexcessive ! thanks in advance.

The shocks could be around $150 a piece + 3 to 4 hours labour tops. I'd shop around.

Thats about right I would say, 2 shocks $300, $400 in labour, probably not to far off

Thanks for the replies. One more question relating to this. If one s.a. is buggered, is it imperative that the other gets replaced at the same time! I want a safe car but I don't want to spend $'s on something that's not necessary.

Replace in pairs, as the other one won't be far away from failing. Its just safer.

What he said ^^^^^^ always replace as a pair(if you plan on keeping the car for a while).
Although.you could just get another complete second hand strut assembly for the side that failed.
