Im not familiar with the Holden here but have noticed they discontinued it! I have heard that Falcons are not the best when it comes to reliability but out the ones below, which has a better ride, better engine and more reliable! 1. 2004 - 2008ish Territory 2. Holden Adventura CX6 / LX6 3. Holden Adventura LX8 / CX8 (5.7 Chev! gen 3)

You probably won't get a useful answer. You're talking Ford vs Holden. Logic will not come into play.
I will however give you one piece of factual advice. It's Adventra, not Adventura.

Thanks - I tried "googling" the right name - came up with both

The Territory is a better car especially with 3Ltwinturbo diesel from the Jaguar

It depends on what you are wanting it for- the Territory will be more versatile (good 7 seater etc). However the Adventra would be a fine vehicle especially with the big V8- note the difference between the CX and LX versions is just that the LX has Calais specification levels whereas the CX is only Acclaim or occasionally Berlina Spec. I have heard the turning circle on the Adventras is bad but mechanically they are decent.

True- but he/she said 2004-2008 Territory so the diesel is out of the question.

Terri would be my pick. Most people I know that had either6 or 8 cyl Adventra have bailed out of them fairly quick. The 6 works to hard and gobbles fuel and the 8 gobbles fuel even more. I know the local Holden dealer made sure they always took potential Adventra buyers on the motorway first when road testing, as the instant fuel consumption displayed going up the hill from the dealer put most buyers off.

With Terri's - what problems are they likely to have! ( husband says front suspension are a weak point in these!) Also - the Territory seems to manage 450km to a tank of gas (highway and town - V6!) where my husbands Cherokee V8 gets the same amount also! I thought sixes dont use as much gas as a 8!

Early Terris had ball joint issues, should be well sorted by 2008. Terri fuel consumption is between 10.5 L/100Km RWD and 12L/100km AWD V8 Jeep is 14l/100km to 15.5L/100km.
Maybe the jeep has a larger tank to achievethe same distance travelled

Discussion on km's per tank are bad jojo. Most vehicles have different tank sizes, so if you are wanting to compare economy, you need actual usage figures. eg litres per 100km. My Falcon gets way further per tank than my 1.8 Astra ever could. Doesn't mean it's more economic.

Actually mechanically they are garbage. We do work for 3 car dealers that wont even stock them anymore and haven't for a number of years. We, however, as their repairers loved them.

Territory up to 2008 have been recalled by Ford for balljoint replacements so if you happen to find one not done you can take it in and get it done. They also are not V6's they are inline 6's. We service a fleet of them that have all done well into200,000k+, other than any normal wear and tear - and balljoints before the recall - they have no problems. The 2WD uses significantly less petrol than the AWD. Personally, I wouldn't look past a turbo Territory and can vouch that it is a fantastic family vehicle for the money. Obviously uses more fuel than the non turboed but less than a V8. Can also tow anything you ask it to with ease and comfort.

Territory is a long way better than the Holden in most areas , not least in general handling and interior packaging (much more efficient) as a much more modern design , I would think that quality of fit and finish would be better as well , but note this is VERY hit and miss in any Autralian built car. The 6speed auto is brilliant in the Ford , the old 4-speed in the Hol much less so.

Territory had reports of very early rust issues too if I recall (around tailgate and doors)

Apologies- I shouldn't have said 'mechanically' as such, I meant the engines themselves are decent. I have heard of problems with the permanent 4WD systems.

Agreed. The ford (German) ZF six speeder is a masterpiece- the old 4 speed box in the Commodore/Adventra is old and out dated but still is a good reliable box- (with the introduction of the electronic throttle in the VZ based Adventra engine performance is much improved compared to the old cable throttle in the VY based model.) The V8 Adventra only ever came with the 4 speed (because of the torque you don't notice it's pitfalls as much) but the 6 cylinder Adventra only came with the later 5 speed box- much better performance and refinement levels

Yep, do not get the V8 adventra they had harmonic problems they could not fix, even when new. 6 speed Territory much better

Get the Territory. Our company one is around 240KM now and been a trooper (had since about 30KM). Those Adventuras are a pile of poo. You would be better off buying a normal Commodore Ute than one of those.
