Afternoon all I've got an alloy rocker cover here, it's been chrome plated at some point and some of the chrome plating is fallen off, so I just to to remove all of it and polish the alloy itself. I've tried a coarse Steelo pad thing and some paint strippers but nothing much working. The Steelo remove some of the flaking chrome but is not touching the good chrome, that I still want to remove. Any home remedies that means I don't have to pay to get it dipped!

Sounds difficult. Chrome is so hard compared with the alloy. Perhaps a flappy wheel on an angle grinder! That's almost my standard answer for everything!

You will need to send it to the chrome platers, they will reverse the polarity on there set up and the chrome will fall right off (kind of) thats the only way it will happen (im pretty sure)
