Boy racers on 2 strikes.

mr.anderson, Nov 4, 7:41am
I saw on the telly the other night that there were 30 odd on 2 strikes! Hopefully the first of the 3rd strikers will get a televised exe-crush-ion.

rpvr, Nov 4, 7:43pm
They should auction off the right to press the button on the crusher.I'd bid

gunhand, Nov 4, 8:08pm
They dont now anyway so whats the difference!

electromic, Nov 4, 8:10pm
Just crushing them is a waste of money.Sell off all the good/expensive parts on trademe first then donate the rest to the fire service to practice thier firefighting skills and then crush the remains. I know a young dude who has receipts for 60k in parts alone on his evo.

pollymay, Nov 4, 8:11pm
Like anything it may start out well but it eventually turns petty. Just wait for the headline "69 mustang crushed for burnout at car show".

ontwowheels, Nov 4, 8:12pm
but it is still just an evo

sw20, Nov 4, 8:16pm
Chances are he isn't going to be cutting Os on the diesel down Neilsen Street on a Friday night.

morrisman1, Nov 4, 8:17pm
Don't crush them, shred them - that is much more interesting for them to watch. Having the car ripped to pieced in a most violent way will really pull at their heart strings

jazzyjack1, Nov 4, 8:48pm
If its a mustang, camaro etc or a car with class - keep them and bid as above. All those silvias, skylines, evos and similar - crush em

pollymay, Nov 4, 11:35pm
Because you can get the bandwagon going then profit from it. My commonwhore I can't go anywhere without being hassled, my windom I could do double the limit and nobody would care. My supercharged mr2 was kind of targeted but not like the VN. The celica I could be doing a burnout outside a preschool and no one would bat an eyelid, the altezza I could pull out of my driveway and someone would phone me in cause it had obvious aftermarket mags and exhaust, the integra automatic I have been waved through checkpoints without even being checked it's so non de script.

I normally drove the cop bait cars slower in town to avoid problems but got attention anyway, the nana cars I could be smoking tyre past the police station no worries. It's just profiling, I raced about in my windom waaaaay more than anything else, did good skids to lol. My V6 blacked out mr2 with full certification etc I've been abused for not even doing anything.

Waaaaahhhhhh.

the pathetic little scrotes don't use tracks now, anyone is welcome to join a sports car club and get legal use of tracks but guess what.!

It's more fun to cruise round the streets with packs of spotty virgins in no-taste crapmobiles and tell lies about their performance than have to attend events with rules and regulations and have your lack of driving skills/speed exposed.

Real blokes show up on the track. Losers paste themselves while cruising suburbia in the small hours and cry 'they should build us tracks'.

smac, Nov 5, 6:05am
Saying they (or you) would run instead of being stopped pretty much sums up the mental capacity of the driver who runs. Jail time versus a crushed car! Genius.

mrfxit, Nov 5, 7:24am
Yep thats ALL been done before.
Every timethe bleaters & do gooders scream out about the injustices of the teens being harassed for (street racing// skating/ bmxing) we fork out for grand parks designed just for them AND FREE entry & you know what happens soon after that .most of the "parks" get closed down because of vandalismor lack of use.

mrfxit, Nov 5, 7:28am
If you were already on 2 strikes & looking at getting nabbed for a 3rd, then clearly you haven't learned your lesson yet.
As for building parks for them .^ ^ ^ ^ ^^answered above

sifty, Nov 5, 7:35am
I don't think you get a strike for having a legal car being driven within the rules.

richardmayes, Nov 5, 7:41am
I have no problem with the sense of poetic justice that is involved. "You've been caught being a dickhead in your car too many times, you've had several chances to change your ways, but you haven't, so now we're gonna crush it."

I have no problem with that.

But it is just a joke to pretend that this will "solve the boy racer problem" or cut down on idiots doing phat skidz, or people like Scottjoooooooke racing rice boys for pink slips in his commo and posting the video of it on youtube etc.

This crushing cars policy is National'sbid to keep the white- middle- class- family- in- the- burbs vote locked in, and that is all that it is.

[Edit: And those above are absolutely right the Police profile certain types of cars. But while the profiling may get you pulled over for doing 49km/h on a straight, clear road in perfect conditions - the profiling alone isn't going to get you ticketed / pink stickered / onto strike two. ]

mrfxit, Nov 5, 7:43am
& sensibly.
Driven all sorts of vehicles in all sorts of tired looking condition & often with some crazy looking loads on trailers that probably shouldn't have those sorts of loads & NEVER yet been pulled up.
BEHAVE your self & don't do things that could attract attention.

Yes certain vehicles get targeted mostly because of the higher then average chances that theres going to be problems with either the driver or the vehicle.
Thats what profiling is about, getting the most common problem vehicles & drivers sorted out 1st, THEN worry about the rest.

smac, Nov 5, 7:58am
crzyhrse you ride your 'the Man is corrupt' wagon, and that's your call. However you're not stupid - you seriouslythink that if all this actually leads to a car getting crushed that the driver in question will have got to that point by being falsely accused! c'mon.

I'm not saying there aren't cops out there who do that, hell I've met my share due to the cars I've owned. But really! Three times! All with right of appeal! All with media attention around the circumstances should the driver want to play the oppressed youth media card.that's pushing it even for a hardened FTP advocate.

shelleigh, Nov 5, 8:39am
I don't agree with crushing the cars - I'd rather see them sold and the money given to organisations like the Head Injury Society.
And instead of being fined, get the drivers to do volunteer work with people who have permanant injuries as the result of someone's dangerous driving. That would hopefully have more impact than yet another fine.

sifty, Nov 5, 8:48am
not at all, I just don't draw attention to myself/drive like a cock.

smac, Nov 5, 10:54am
No I'm not suggesting anyone submit to bullying, and I too have seen the results of that kind of Policing. Been on the receiving end of it myself actually.

All I'm saying is that in these cases, if/when a car gets crushed, do you really think it will be likely that it was somebody being victimized or bullied!

As for the comment about not believing the media etc, that's my exact point.the media can be used very effectively to stick up for the individual (rightly OR wrongly) just as effectively as the Govt and Police use it to sell their own message.

smac, Nov 5, 10:55am
I think the chances of the owner of the first crushed car (if it ever happens) being a victim of the system is about as likely as all those cases of people unfairly accused of pirating we were supposed to see by now.

richardmayes, Jan 31, 9:40am
Talking about you, not to you, chump. Why don't you go and make a video of yourself doing a skid or something!

I might respect you if you can do a really awesome skid in your holdung.
But then, I might not.
