Will 235/45 r17 fit on 17x7.5 rims

235 is the width of tread in mm. 45 is the height of the side wall. 17 is rim diameter in inches. 7.5 is rim width between "bead". Just under 200mm. so tyre would over lap rim by 17mm each side.(3/4) inch. Philp is right, but no reason not for you to google it,

235mm is the width of the tread block but the bead width of the tyre will be approx 10mm less on either side. 45 refers to the aspect ratio, ie the sidewall is 45% of the width of the tyre. A 255/45 is not only going to be wider but also taller than a 235/45. 235 width would sit reasonably 'flat' on a 7.5-8.5" wide rim. I wouldn't mount a 235 on anything narrower than a 7.5" rim though.
