Ya goin to have to modify it heaps either way.pretty sure it will be way to wide, then all the brackets will need cleaning off and the spring pads welded on.also the ratios are low as,maybe a Previa diff might have better ratios! also they are disc braked. They have the same internals as a hilux so will be strong enough

Great mod for an Escort, been done many times.

hilux 8 inch. we did one. had to re-spline the axles on one side, shorten up the housing. put sierra rotors on it, and bluebird rear calipers (to retain cable handbrake). had 4.3, 3.9 as the ratios in LSD for gravel etc.
we used a surf housing, as it was slightly offset, and only had to shorten one end.

I've never seen a 31 spline lux axle like they talk about in that article.

Well worth talking to some of the classic gravel guys, as I said before it's a common solution to getting a cheap, lower ratio, strong LSD diff into an Esky.

Probably start with a quick check of Palmside to see what used diffs or diff ratios they have.
Then it would be a look through the local 4x4 wreckers as newly deceased Hilux are bought in.
