Boot seals

Does anyone know if they can be replaced!I'm fighting a losing battle with a 22yo Hiace boot seal - there's only so much mastic you can throw on.

Yes they can, but usually rusted where they clip on is the problem.

Who does this!Do you have a name of a company or garage!

jmma, Oct 29, 12:29pm
Most garages or panelbeaters would be capable of doing this.

Glass companies sometimes have rubber extrusions on rolls and sell it by the metre. you might find something that would do the job.

You mean rear hatch! first off you need to remove the whole thing and repair the metal underneath.Next you will find that all the rear hatch seals for hiaces of that generation will fit so being 1990 you can get one from 1990-1996 as long as its the same model--ie high/low roof.

*faints*

Yes, the rear hatch. The metal underneath is fine and in good condition - the seals are no longer tubular, but flat and the water is dripping in when it rains particularly heavy.

Thanks all for the input - appreciated.

if you go see a glass company they will probably have a heap of different profiles for you to compare.

Take a short sample of the old rubber and check that isn't at right angles to the retaining slot, or along side the retaining slot. They come in lots of different profiles. And sizes.
