Probably cheap shite. When I bought my dizzy I looked at the $100 ones, especially under the rotor cap to look at the built quality and there crap. ended up buying a Mallory and putting a Digital MSD ignition module in with a built in rev limiter, probably ended up costing about $500 in the end. Was about 5 years ago and still going strong.

This one is $199 with built in coil 52,000 volts.

Be very wary of some of these cheaper ones, one cost my mate his motor, advance weights and mechanism fell apart and gave the poor ol chev a whole heap of advance while quarter track on a drag strip.

I think Mallory's are about that much from STA.

Just looked in the PetrolHead and Performance Parts here in Auckland have the Afterburners for $95+. Still doesn't change the build quality. If its for your pride and joy I'd look at known brand units and spend alittle more $ on one. STA and Segedins are really good on prices.

A mate looked at them and recons bout same quality as procomp and they crap

Thats where I was looking,$95 special didn't include clevelands, hence the $199.They are made in China but so is MSD & Pro comp he said

NZTools, Nov 8, 7:38pm
Most things these days are made in china, however MSD spends a lot more money having their gear made in china. pro comp and afterburner are just cheap rubbish, with very poor build quality and zero quality control at the factory. The advance curves are hopelss, and it will probably fall to bits very quickly if the constant pinging doesnt put holes in your pistons first.

Spend a bit more money and it will pay divedends.

Isn't afterburner a Pro comp product?
