funny thing is it sounds quite cool, but when the big day comes where it goes boof, when do you think the warning signs are to get fixed, and what cost roughly! ford courier 2004 , 135,000 ks bit premature but shit happens. it definetely is th diff not bearings.

Keep checking for play in the pinion. As long as there is no play they can/might go for ages. once there is play it's nearly all over.

The pinion is the bit with the drive shaft attached. It's bearings should have zero play in them. If you get under there and grab the pinion with both hands and try to move it up and down, there should be no play. If it moves one mill, the seal is about to start leaking bad, if it moves two mills it is about to grind the gears to bits and they will destroy the bearings and the gears and it will either lock up or stop driving. Once it gets a bit of play it sets off a vicious circle of destruction and goes down fast.

Get the diff inhibitor treatment from Ford ask if that will work after they drive it and listen, my BA you could hear from the outside pedestrians looked at the crossings etc.
