We took our car toDM Autos to have over $1000 worth of work done but they never done the work then became threatening towards us when we questioned them. We have spoken to other mechanics about this who confirm that the work was never done! (but we paid thinking it was)

His customer services skills are great until you pay then he was incredibly rude and nasty. ignoring phone calls from me for days while he had my car in his workshop and his excuse being ' I ignore customers for a couple of days when they are upset so they have time to cool down"WTF!

Also other mechanics have told us they have had quite a few people bring their cars to them after taking their cars to DM Autos and the work is not being done and they are still charged for it but cannot take their cars if they don't pay and you don't realise its not done until after you leave. They are only doing this with cars that they can get away with it with.

They stuck injector cleaner into my petrol tank to hide the fact they had not done the work which is why it took me a week to realise it wasn't done - when the stuff wore off and my car started smoking again. (was valves they were supposed to do) When i questioned them they tried to say it was something else that was going to cost me over $2500 to fix yet other mechanics have told me thats not true and that the valves are the problem and were clearly not done!

The owner has told me to f**k off via txt when I asked him to redo the job or refund me. And has continued to act threatening towards me.
For reasons I cannot explain I am under police protection and the owner of DM Autos knows this and has txt me threatening me saying I should be careful or he will go talk to the people I am under protection from.

I know I am not supposed to mention names on here but this is absolutely appalling and I will be taking this as far as I can, and don't want to see other people ripped off by this guy in the meantime.

It's not so much the trademe rules you have to worry about, but if the company you mentioned can afford a lawyer you might find yourself in strife for naming them here

trinket87, Nov 3, 8:30pm
I'm not too fazed by that considering I have extremely threatening txts from them and also have proof to back up my story.

eajo1mbwass, Nov 3, 8:31pm
good on you for warning people

snoopy221, Nov 3, 8:34pm
You do realise there are not many specifics in that post-
Apart from defamatory suggestions about a company.
As to the vehicle-year age make mileage.
And the initial problem!

Tip-injector cleaner won't do Jackto stop
SMOKIN.

SO.

a.woodrow, Nov 3, 8:34pm
Well maybe you could text them, give them the link to this thread and invite them to share their side of the story then!

snoopy221, Nov 3, 8:35pm
Why oh Why does Mitsi GDI!

I have also posted this in the OP's other thread(s):

Interesting you should post this. We have had good dealings with the same workshop and we have been using them for the past 3 years. The only issue we have had was a faulty joint that failed a WOF, but they replaced the faulty joint at their cost no questions asked. I am surprised you had such a bad experience :(

Definitely take them to the small claims court if they won't fix it and you can prove that they haven't replaced the parts they have charged you for.

It would be good to hear both stories though.I don't feel you can make a fair judgement until you have heard both sides of a story.

trinket87, Nov 3, 8:46pm
They told us it was the valves that needed replacing as car smoked upon start up and cleared after driving approx 1km then stayed clear while car was warm only reappeared when car was cold.
Car went in to be fixed -they had it for 5 days then we picked it up was still smoking slightly we asked about it and was told it would take 2 hours running time to clear.
After approx 3 days smoke came back just like before upon start up and clearing when warm.
Took car back - worker said would fix at no cost if same problem.
Couldn't get in contact for 5 days with them.
They told us its a different problem - had not taken car for test drive and now claiming the machine to do valves was broken.
Took car home and it cleared after approx 1500m then stayed gone while warm.
Took car to 2 other mechanics who both said its valves need doing.

Sounds more like valve stem seals. What kind of vehicle and what did your $1000 break down into

treachug, Nov 3, 8:49pm
Still missing vital info relevant to the storyline.what make & model!

snoopy221, Nov 3, 8:51pm

jmma, Nov 3, 9:12pm
No it doesn't, but all info about the car makes it easier for us to give you an informed decision.

Now, what engine has it got in it and what year is the car.

May as well tell us how many km's as well (o:

Oh and what colour.

trinket87, Nov 3, 9:14pm
year is 99 its a 2400cc gdi and thats all i know lol oh and km are 135000

a.woodrow, Nov 3, 9:16pm
so they replaced the valve stem seals. have the other two mechanics actually dissasembled the car to see if the stem seals were replaced or not! because I'm betting that (a) the stem seals were replaced and (b) you do in fact have another issue with the GDI

snoopy221, Nov 3, 9:21pm
