What are you going to do for them!No one gives away money these days. You may need to present a proposal to them that is grammatically correct and spell checked.
If your post is an example of your literary ability, pass the job over to someone else.

Think outside the norm. I had a major NZ sex shop as a sponsor on my race bike. Its all advertising at the end of the day. Reality is, phone calls don't cut it. Do it properly and create a business case that you can show companies including prospective sign-writing designs, exposure (how many meetings do you plan to attend, how many people attend to watch) and overall benefits to the company. Legwork works better than phone-work

Repeating what socram and berg have said.In essence you need to tell them what THEYWILL gain financially by sponsoring you. Where I agree that thinking outside the square is a good idea. Don't neglect looking inside the square as well. My main tyre sponsor was a major player in the feild. They chose me because they knew I'd be plugging their product whenever I could. Incidently I see it all the time with racers. They make all sorts of promises but pretty fast forget their sponsors OR forget that how they act and react in the public areana reflects on those sponsoring them . Decent sponsorship is an ongoing relationship based on mutual trust and respect. So first year even getting a discount on tyres is a great start. You if you do your JOB right will find they are happier to dig into their pockets the second year.

Getting sponsorship for both our race series has been quite straightforward. Over the last 16 years, we have had but 4 sponsors and they appear to be more than happy, as each time the series is mentioned in a magazine or on TV, or even on ingtertnet message boards, they are getting good exposure, over and above the stickers on individual race and also road cars. In return, most of the the race meeting organisers give me as many free tickets as I want for them, as they are keen to have the series there. (Race meetings are self supporting, in that driver entry fees cover costs, so giving away tickets doesn't really cost anything.)
From an individual's point of view, they would have to work extremely hard to get the same sort of coverage and sponsor return.Even Mitch Evans will still be costing his Dad a fortune and he is a high profile international winner!Scott Dixon was a winner with backing from a whole consortium of high profile people, but he repaid them big time.
In short, you have to not only sell yourself, but also be saleable. Are you!Just checked your profile - as that is where most sponsors are going to look first.Does that convey the image that is going to attract sponsors! That is your first, free, sales platform.
