Have to agree.The ability to long term plan always seems to be absent.It is never going to be cheaper than it is today.

Even if the population of NZ doesn't grow too much, if we want a viable tourist industry - the only one they can't flog 100% to the Chinese - then we have to provide the facilities and that means at the very minimum, a decent highway from at least Wellington to Whangarei or even the Bay of Islands.At its hub (Auckland) you already have over 1 million people needing to get in, out and across trying to use an unplanned half finished roading system.

Even if fossil fuel usage was on the way down (it is not.) we'd still need the roads for electric, solar or hydrogen powered vehicles.

Stepson has a unique tourism business in BOI, and has been swamped with work from tourists coming in by road and also from the cruise ships and the tourism trade is one we really do need to invest in.
