Not sure I am in the right place but TomToms and motoring do go together. So - if we update our TomTom and pass our old one on to someone else. What is involved in that person registering our old TomTom to themselves so as to update maps etc etc!Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

As far as I know, they don't need to register it. With my Navman, which I purchased on TM second hand, I just go to their website, and pay for, and download the latest maps, when\if I want to update. I assume Tomtom have a similar system on their site. By the way, the GPS has to be one of the most marvellous pieces of technology ever invented. I can't do without one now!

I like my Tomtom GPS but they are trying to charge me $125.00 per year to update the map!

That's crazy.I'm using an android phone with "Sygic" app as an in-car GPS, this uses Tomtom maps. The app with NZ and Aust base-maps cost about $40, apps and maps are updated for free. I can't see a big future for GPS companies charging big $ for maps. All it would take is for Google to drop their 10 tile cache limit, and the in-car GPS is an obsolete ornament.

If passing it on to someone else - particularly not a family member, can you delete the history!I know you can do it via the PC for a Garmin.
